No.
Today i noticed no glow.

The last few times the car ran poorly, or had the light glowing, it was raining! Now to figure out why.

But this is not an check engine light, there is an brake symbol next to it. I think if you check the regularly, like spark plugs, fuel pressure and ignition module you have to read the trouble codes.

sorry for the dumb questions, owned the car a week now.

also your link is to a generic car site. Since there are 2 brake light switch like a late model 70s bug, how can it detect low fluid as referenced?

FINALLY found something on another site.....

Alternator light and (!) LED flickering:

Alternator brushes worn down. The edges of the alternator brushes can be very gently filed down and re-used. You can get brand new alternator brushes from the VW Classic Parts Center http://www.vw-classicparts.de/ part number 0409035031 at €29.13 + delivery + 19% german sales tax.

Ah, you've found one of my old posts (I think I posted it on VZi if I remember rightly). :)

Also check the diode plate at the back of the alternator to make sure that none of the wires on it are loose and make sure that none of the diodes have been burnt out. However, having said that, it may be easier to replace the alternator as the rear alternator cover is very difficult/impossible to remove.

Another item to check is the battery to starter motor cable (especially at the starter motor end) as a corroded starter motor ring terminal can cause the same symptoms (alternator charge warning light on, (!) LED on). I got caught out early last year when the starter motor's ring terminal snapped off due to corrosion.

I sold my 1600i Beetle last April (there was far too much rust on it after I spent a lot of money on it), so I'm not really online 1600i-wise nowadays (my main cars are now 3 Reliant Rialtos). I've still got my 1300 Beetle and my type 2 T3 camper. :)

Anyway, Happy New Year everyone. :D

Glückliches Neujahr an alle. :D

Yes, I think that is where I saw it.

I need to try those things.

I swapped #30 relay, my idle is still odd at times, but it doesn't die.
