Boosting heating system?

Beitragvon wellcraft » Mi 24. Dez 2014, 02:02

Hi guys, i have a 1999 beetle and was wondering if there is a way to boost the heater system somehow? My beetle is cold and the windows are fogging big time and is driving me crazy.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked if the heaterflaps are compleately opend when the lever is pulled?
Maybe the mooving parts are a bit worn or the rope is lengthened.

I haven't but will check into that today. I asked a beetle mechanic and he told me the heater system on these car aren't great and he mentioned me something about boosting the vent system with some kind of fans.

Thanks.

In case you want an additional fan you could mount that one which is used in early aircooled T3 or in the 70HP T2. It has two pressure exits and provides constant airflow instead of the engine powerd kooling vent.

Driving overland - if evererything is in good shape - the heating air is powerfull enough to roast your feet.

When you still have the Original heaterboxes you have boxes without the aluminium heat exchangers.
You can check that by looking inside of them. When you only see a pipe you have the Original mexican ones. When you see a aluminium body around the pipe you have the better ones. The mexican version is pretty light weight.
Change them to the heavier ones and you will be allright! You can buy those at every beetle specialist.
I would check this first before putting in blowers etcetera..
