voltage regulator

Hi guys, my alternator is over charging and I was wondering if this car alternator has a voltage regulator that it can be replace or do I need to replace the whole alternator?

If I can replace the voltage regulator, can u guys tell me where it is andmif possible a picture and part njmber?

I have a 1999 mexican beetle 1600i.

Hello,

at the 1600i page, under "1600i Technic" there is an entry regarding the installation of an external voltage regulator. The link to the English version is broken, the German one might help.

Ok, i was able to find it but the english version is broken as you mentioned. Somehow I need to see how I can translate to English.

The one recommend in the diy is the same as the one that's inside of the unit but installed as external. Cip1 has it.
