Need to lift my beetle back to factory specs

Hi guys, my 1999 mexican beetle was lowered by the previous owner and I would like to take it back to stock height or get it back to its original height when it left the factory and I'm trying to do the spring plate adjustment and need to know what's the stock angle for these bugs. Do I need to have the car level front and back or just by using the protractor and taking the actual angles from the door sills is enough?

Also, how is my bug supposed to be lowered up front, is there any other way other than drop spindles? Want to make sure before I order a new set of stock height spindles.

Btw, my bug was a little bit lower on the drivers side than the passenger side, about 3/4 of an inch or 1.905cm. Would this be bad adjustment or what?

Thanks in advance.

I now learned that there are two types of swing axles, short and long and that the swing plate specs are different.

What do I have on this 1999 beetle short or long axles and what would be the correct stock setting for the spring plates?

Thanks again for any help.

Hi,

your car has the short ones. The correct angle of the spring plates is 18°10´+50´. Use new rubbers.

Hi Daniel, I found pics of the difference between a short and a lon one and how to measure it and it looks like I have the long ones. This is kind of confusing now.
