Beetle will not always start / Käfer wird nicht immer starte

Good Day everyone,

I am having a problem with my 1996 Mexican Beetle, where it does not always start. The battery is fine and all the lights and radio work but the engine does not start or turn at all. If I leave it for 10 minutes or so and then try again it starts OK. I can also jump start it fine too immediately when the problem occurs. Has this happened to anyone here before? what is the likely cause? Could it be an issue with the immobiliser or the starter motor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ich habe ein Problem mit meinem 1996 mexikanische Käfer, wo es nicht immer starten. Die Batterie ist in Ordnung und alle Lichter-und Radio-Arbeit, aber der Motor startet nicht oder überhaupt drehen. Wenn ich es verlassen, für 10 Minuten oder so und dann versuchen Sie es erneut beginnt es OK. Ich kann auch Starthilfe es auch in Ordnung sofort, wenn das Problem auftritt. Hat dies jedem passieren hier vor? was ist die wahrscheinlichste Ursache? Könnte es ein Problem mit der Wegfahrsperre oder der Anlasser sein?

Jede Hilfe wäre sehr geschätzt werden.

Sounds like the magnet switch of the starter. Replace the starter.

Or clean the connectors. Could be some oxid.

If this defect occurs: try to connect 12V and starter magnet switch by using a screwdriver... the 2 wires connected to the starter.

I will take off the starter motor and give it a good clean to see if that sorts out the problem. If it continues, then I will buy a new one.

I have now fitted a new starter motor and the problem has stopped.
