2003 Immobilizer question

Beitragvon svoshop » Mi 26. Dez 2012, 02:51

Hi guys,

My German is not any good, so hopefully someone can help me in english :)

My 2003 Bug will not start. I have no spark. The car ran well, and just decided not to start again. I have no spark at the coil, or at the distrubutor. I did not check the hall sensor, however my bug only has 4k miles. I hope it has not failed at that mileage.

I am thinking the immobilizer has failed. I removed the rear panel and found it. I have a blinking red light attached to it. No matter what I do, it just blinks.

I am thinking of doing the bypass, and found the directions. However I could use a little help. When I disconnet the wires from the board, do I connect the wires together and just plug the board in, or do i connect the solder joints on the board?

Also, I am going to replace the coil tomorrow first, and check the hall sensor by removing the cap and turning the crank to listen for the fuel pump prime every 90* of turn. If they pass.... I guess the immobilizer has failed? Should it have the red light flashing?

I only have the black wand, no red one. Bought this for my wife for Christmas. Worked one day, lol.

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Mike

Ok, I have figured out that it is the immobilizer. I now have it working, but I would like to bypass it so there is no problem down the road with it starting.

Can anyone give me some insight on how the operation works. Do I connect the solder joints with a jumper wire, or do I connect the six wires and eliminate them from going to circuit board at all.
